About five minutes, most of it waiting for a sign-in. When you are done, Claude can search and summarise your WhatsApp conversations without you scrolling through a phone. It reads your messages; it cannot send them.

https://mcp.whatsync.app/mcpIn Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors. This is the same place your other connectors live.
Click the + button, then choose Add custom connector.
Enter https://mcp.whatsync.app/mcp as the remote MCP server URL, then click Add. You do not need to touch Advanced settings or enter OAuth credentials.
Claude sends you through a sign-in the first time. Use the WhatSync account whose messages you want to read. The connection remembers you afterwards.
Adding a connector does not switch it on everywhere. In the chat where you want it, click the + button, choose your connectors, and toggle WhatSync on.
Try one of the questions below. Claude will ask for permission the first time it reaches for your messages.
The steps above are for an individual Claude account. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner has to add the connector for the organisation before anyone can use it.

Claude inherits the access of the WhatSync account you signed in with. Connecting it never widens what somebody can read.

Claude connects from Anthropic's cloud, not from your laptop, so the server has to be reachable on the public internet. If you are on a VPN or a locked-down network, that does not affect it. Check the URL for a typo first.
It is almost always not switched on in that particular chat. Click the + button in the conversation, open your connectors, and toggle WhatSync on. Connectors are per conversation.
Check whether that number is excluded by your number filter, or whether the chat is a group you never ticked for group sync. The agent can only read what already syncs.
Members only ever see their own messages. If they need the whole team, they need to be an admin. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner also has to add the connector before anyone else can connect.
