How do you connect WhatsApp to Affinity?

Connect your Affinity account with an API key, then link your WhatsApp. The app matches people by the phone numbers saved in Affinity. Each new message with them is saved as a note on their person record, marked sent or received, with the date.

Set up WhatsApp for Affinity

A few minutes, done once by one person. Everyone else keeps using WhatsApp as usual.

Open the app
Go to the app's site and sign in.
Connect Affinity
Paste an API key from your Affinity settings. The app reads the phone numbers on your people so it can match WhatsApp chats to them.
Link your WhatsApp
Scan the code from Linked devices on your phone. Your phone keeps working as normal.
Keep chatting
New messages with people in Affinity are saved as notes on their record.

What it does not do

Better to know now than after you set it up. Need something else? Tell us.

Old chats are not imported. Saving starts with new messages.
Only people already in Affinity with a phone number are matched. New numbers are not added as people.
It saves message text. Photos and files are not copied to Affinity.
