WhatsApp for Lindy

Lindy runs your busywork on its own. With WhatSync, it can keep an eye on your WhatsApp too.

How do you connect WhatsApp to Lindy?

In Lindy, open Integrations, click + Add and choose MCP. Paste the WhatSync server URL, name it WhatSync and click Connect, then sign in. Each WhatSync tool becomes a Lindy action your agents can use.

What Lindy can do with your WhatsApp

Chats waiting on you

Lindy checks every half hour who is waiting on a reply and tells you, so nobody waits a day.

Replies you approve

It drafts the answer from the chat history and sends it once you approve.

WhatsApp in your workflows

Turn a WhatsApp request into a task, a calendar invite or a row in a sheet, next to Lindy's other integrations.

Add WhatSync to Lindy

You sign in to WhatSync once. No API keys to paste. Check what you need above first.

  1. Add WhatSync as an MCP server

Open Integrations, click + Add and choose MCP, not Integration. Paste the server URL and set the display name to WhatSync. Leave Advanced empty: WhatSync signs you in itself.

    https://whatsync.app/api/mcp
  2. Connect and sign in

Click Connect and sign in to WhatSync with Google or your email. WhatSync then shows in your list with its tool counts.

  3. Link your WhatsApp

Open your WhatSync dashboard and link your personal WhatsApp from Linked devices on your phone, or connect the WhatsApp Business API. If you ask your agent something first, it replies with a sign-in link that works for 15 minutes.

  4. Choose what it can see

In Settings, under What's saved, enable message saving, pick the groups to include and keep any person out. Groups stay off until you tick them. Your agent sees messages saved from the moment you turn saving on, not your whole WhatsApp history.

  5. Set sends to ask first

In the server's Guardrails, choose Ask for approval, so Lindy checks with you before any WhatsApp message goes out. You can also turn off any tool you don't want in Actions.

Things to ask Lindy

Copy one, change the names, and try it.

  • Use WhatSync. Every 30 minutes, check which WhatsApp chats are waiting on my reply and send me the list.

  • When a new client messages me on WhatsApp, draft a reply from our past chats and ask me before sending it.

  • Find what Sara said about the delivery date and add it to the order notes.

Good to know

You choose which chats are saved, and you can unlink WhatsApp from your phone at any time. How we handle your data.

  • Lindy connects to WhatSync with OAuth sign-in, and WhatSync customers run Lindy agents on their WhatsApp today.
  • Every enabled tool is one Lindy considers on each task. If an agent only needs to read, turn off the send and campaign tools in Actions.
  • Shared with your workspace, other members' agents can use your WhatsApp too. Keep Availability on Only you unless that's what you want.
  • Sends are real WhatsApp messages. Set the send tool to ask you every time in your AI app's settings. Telling the agent "ask me first" in a chat is not the same thing.
  • Messaging many customers? Use the Business API, and only message people who agreed to hear from you. Bulk messages from a personal number can get it restricted by WhatsApp.
  • Search looks at message text, file names and captions. On Pro and up it also covers voice notes turned into text and the words in photos and scanned documents.
  • Groups only work on a personal WhatsApp linked from your phone. The Business API covers customer chats, templates and campaigns.
  • "Waiting on you" means the last message in a chat came from the other person. It's a hint to check, not a to-do list.

Personal WhatsApp or the Business API

Lindy can tell which one you have and uses the right tools for it.

Questions

Something else? Ask us.

Can Lindy use WhatsApp?

Yes. Add WhatSync as an MCP server in Lindy and sign in. Your Lindy agents get tools to read your saved chats, find messages and send replies.

Do I need an API key for Lindy?

No. WhatSync signs you in with OAuth, so you leave the credential fields in Lindy empty.

Will Lindy message people without asking?

Only if you allow it. Set Guardrails to Ask for approval and Lindy asks you before each send.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for WhatSync. We run the server for you. You only need the AI app itself. Your WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as normal.

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business API?

Yes. Connect a number through Meta and Lindy can check and create templates, send approved templates, and run campaigns to customers who opted in. Meta reviews every template and charges per message, depending on the country and message type. See WhatsApp Business API.

Is WhatSync made by Lindy?

No. WhatSync is made by Appstronauts. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Lindy, WhatsApp or Meta.

How much does it cost?

See the pricing page for the current plans.
