WhatsApp for Perplexity

Perplexity searches the web. Add WhatSync and it searches your WhatsApp too, so one answer can use both.

How do you connect WhatsApp to Perplexity?

In Perplexity, open Settings, then Connectors, and click Custom connector. Choose Remote, paste the WhatSync URL, pick OAuth, and sign in. Custom connectors need a Pro, Max or Enterprise plan.

What Perplexity can do with your WhatsApp

Compare the quotes suppliers sent you on WhatsApp with prices online.

Catch up fast

Ask what you missed in your groups and get the short version.

Add WhatSync to Perplexity

You sign in to WhatSync once. No API keys to paste. Check what you need above first.

  1. Add a custom connector

On perplexity.ai, open Settings, then Connectors, and click Custom connector. Choose Remote, name it WhatSync and paste the server URL. Select Streamable HTTP and OAuth, review the acknowledgement and click Add.

  2. Sign in to WhatSync

Click the WhatSync card to start the sign-in. Use Google or your email.

  3. Link your WhatsApp

Open your WhatSync dashboard and link your personal WhatsApp from Linked devices on your phone, or connect the WhatsApp Business API. If you ask your agent something first, it replies with a sign-in link that works for 15 minutes.

  4. Choose what it can see

On the What's saved page, enable message saving, pick the groups to include and keep any person out. Groups stay off until you tick them. The agent can read permitted messages saved since you enabled saving; linking does not import your entire WhatsApp history.

  5. Turn it on in a thread

In a new thread, turn WhatSync on from the sources menu, then ask about your chats.

Things to ask Perplexity

Copy one, change the names, and try it.

  • Use WhatSync. My uncle sent a health tip in the Family group today. Is it true?

  • Compare the three quotes suppliers sent me on WhatsApp this week with current prices online.

  • Who is waiting on a WhatsApp reply from me?

  • Find the restaurant Meera recommended and check if it is open tonight.

Good to know

You choose which chats are saved, and you can unlink WhatsApp from your phone at any time. How we handle your data.

  • Free Perplexity accounts do not have custom connectors.
  • These setup steps cover Perplexity on the web. On an organization account, an admin must enable custom connectors.
  • Sends are real WhatsApp messages and run when your AI app allows the tool call. Keep send tools on manual approval and review the recipient and text. Asking the agent to wait is not an enforced approval setting.
  • Use the Business API for campaigns to customers who opted in. The Business API does not permit unsolicited messages. Linked personal accounts can be restricted for violating WhatsApp's rules.
  • Search covers saved message text, file names and captions. WhatSync does not index document contents, transcribe voice notes or read text inside images. A download link is available only when WhatSync saved the file.
  • Group searches and replies require a linked personal WhatsApp. WhatsApp Business API tools work with customer conversations, templates and campaigns.
  • An unanswered conversation means its latest saved message in the checked period is incoming. It is a follow-up signal, not proof that a question is unanswered or that you owe a reply.

Questions

Something else? Ask us.

Does Perplexity work with MCP servers?

Yes. Pro, Max and Enterprise users can add remote MCP servers as custom connectors from Settings, then Connectors.

Do I need a client ID or secret?

No. WhatSync supports automatic registration, so Perplexity sets up the sign-in for you. Just pick OAuth.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for WhatSync. We run the server for you. You only need the AI app itself. Your WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as normal.

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business API?

Yes. Connect a number through Meta and Perplexity can check and create templates, send approved templates, and run campaigns to customers who opted in. Meta reviews every template and charges per message, depending on the country and message type. See WhatsApp Business API.

Is WhatSync made by Perplexity?

No. WhatSync is made by Appstronauts. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Perplexity, WhatsApp or Meta.

How much does it cost?

See the pricing page for the current plans.
