Checked November 4, 2026 on OpenAI's plugin pages. Which plugins you can install depends on your ChatGPT plan, your country and your workspace.
What are ChatGPT plugins in 2026?
A plugin connects ChatGPT to another app, so it can read your data there and do things for you. Gmail lets it read your emails. Canva lets it make a design. WhatSync lets it read your WhatsApp.
The name is old but the thing is new. OpenAI's first plugin store opened in 2023 and closed in April 2024. Then came GPTs, connectors and apps. On July 9, 2026, OpenAI moved its app directory into a new plugin directory, and "plugins" came back as the name for all of it.
A plugin today can hold an app (the connection to the other service) and skills (ready-made instructions for common jobs). The apps you had already connected kept working.
How to install a ChatGPT plugin
- Open ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app and click Plugins in the sidebar.
- Search for the app you want and open it.
- Click Install plugin, then sign in to that app when it asks.
- In a chat, type @ and the plugin's name, or open the + menu and pick it.
Using ChatGPT at work?
On Business and Enterprise accounts, an admin may need to turn a plugin on first. ChatGPT only sees what the account you sign in with can see.
How we picked these 15
We read all 343 plugins on OpenAI's plugin pages and kept the ones that do a job most people do every week. Each pick had to give ChatGPT something it cannot do alone: reach your own data or take an action in another app.
Where two plugins do the same job, we name both. We make WhatSync, so read that entry with that in mind. It is the only pick that is not on OpenAI's public pages; it is in the plugin directory inside ChatGPT.
1. Gmail: best for email
Gmail is the plugin most people should install first. ChatGPT can find an old email, sum up a long thread, list what you promised to do, and draft a reply in your voice.
At a Microsoft workplace, install Outlook Email and Outlook Calendar instead.
“Which emails from this week still need a reply from me? Rank them by urgency.”
2. Slack: best for team chat
Slack lets ChatGPT search channels, threads and messages, so you can ask what was decided while you were away instead of scrolling back two days.
If your team uses Microsoft, the Teams plugin does the same job.
“What did the team decide about the launch date in Slack this week?”
3. WhatSync: best for WhatsApp
We make this one. Gmail and Slack cover email and team chat, but for most of the world the conversations with customers, suppliers and family happen on WhatsApp. None of the plugins on OpenAI's own pages reads your WhatsApp chats.
WhatSync links your WhatsApp to ChatGPT with a QR code, the same way WhatsApp Web does. Then ChatGPT can tell you who is waiting for a reply, sum up a busy group, find an old message or file, and draft replies that you send.
Plans start at $19 a month, with a 7 day free trial. Plus and Pro show your newest 1,000 older messages, Pro also reads voice notes and photos, and Max adds your whole history.
“Who messaged me on WhatsApp today and is still waiting for a reply?”
- Set it up in five minutes: connect WhatsApp to ChatGPT.
4. Google Drive: best for files
Google Drive lets ChatGPT search your Docs, Sheets, Slides and PDFs and answer from them, so you can ask a question instead of hunting for the right file.
On Dropbox or SharePoint? Both have plugins that do the same.
“Find the latest pricing sheet in my Drive and tell me what changed from last quarter.”
5. Google Calendar: best for your schedule
Google Calendar lets ChatGPT look up your events and free time. It is most useful next to Gmail: ask ChatGPT to get you ready for today's meetings from both.
If people book time with you, the Calendly plugin manages bookings and availability.
“What meetings do I have tomorrow, and which ones can I move?”
6. Fireflies: best for meeting notes
Fireflies lets ChatGPT search your meeting transcripts and pull out action items, so you can ask what a client said three calls ago.
Use the one your meetings are already recorded in: Granola, Otter.ai, Read AI, Fathom and Zoom all have plugins too.
“What did we agree with the client in last week's calls? List the next steps and who owns each.”
7. Notion: best for notes and a team wiki
Notion lets ChatGPT search and answer from your Notion pages: the handbook, project notes, meeting notes and plans. Its plugin also comes with skills for weekly project digests and meeting notes.
“Using our Notion handbook, what is our refund policy for annual plans?”
8. Adobe Acrobat: best for PDFs
Adobe Acrobat lets ChatGPT edit, convert and organize PDFs. Use it to merge files, turn a PDF into an editable document, or tidy up a scanned contract.
“Combine these three PDFs into one file and put the invoice first.”
9. Canva: best for design
Canva lets ChatGPT search, create and edit designs in your Canva account: social posts, presentations, posters. You get a real Canva file you can keep editing, not just a picture.
For diagrams, slides and design files, Figma has a plugin too.
“Make three Instagram post designs announcing our summer sale, in our brand colors.”
10. GitHub: best for code
GitHub lets ChatGPT read your repositories, issues and pull requests. Ask it to explain how part of the code works, sum up a pull request, or find where a feature lives.
“Summarize the open pull requests in this repository and flag any that touch payments.”
11. Atlassian: best for Jira and Confluence
The Atlassian plugin lets ChatGPT search and update Jira and Confluence. It comes with skills to turn meeting notes into tasks and write a status report.
Teams on Linear, Asana, ClickUp, monday.com or Trello have a plugin too.
“Write this week's status report from the Jira tickets closed in our sprint.”
12. HubSpot: best for sales and CRM
HubSpot lets ChatGPT look through your CRM: contacts, companies and deals. Its skills check pipeline health, prepare you for a customer call and clean up messy CRM data.
On another CRM? Salesforce, Attio, Zoho CRM and Close all have plugins.
“Which deals in our pipeline have had no activity in two weeks?”
13. Stripe: best for payments
Stripe lets ChatGPT answer questions about your revenue, customers, subscriptions, disputes and refunds. Developers can also use it to build a payment setup.
For accounting, QuickBooks and Xero have plugins.
“How much did we make last month, and how many customers cancelled?”
14. Shopify: best for an online store
Shopify lets ChatGPT check your products, stock and orders, and make supported changes to your store.
“Which products are about to run out of stock?”
15. Consensus: best for research papers
Consensus lets ChatGPT search peer-reviewed research and read the papers' details, so its answer points to studies instead of guesses. Students and researchers should also look at Elicit, Scite and Wolfram.
“What does the research say about intermittent fasting and sleep? Cite the papers.”
Is there a WhatsApp plugin for ChatGPT?
Yes, but there are three different things people mean, so it helps to know which one you want.
WhatSync brings your own WhatsApp chats into ChatGPT. You ask ChatGPT about your messages and it drafts the replies. This is the one for keeping up with customers, groups and family.
1-800-ChatGPT is the other way round: ChatGPT as a contact inside WhatsApp, which you message like a person. OpenAI stopped it on WhatsApp after January 15, 2026, and in July 2026 it came back only in the European Economic Area.
Sent is for developers. It sends SMS, RCS and WhatsApp business messages through a Sent API account, with approved templates. It does not read your own chats.
- Set up the first one: connect WhatsApp to ChatGPT.
Which plugin should you install first?
Start with the app you open most during the day, because that is where the questions you would ask ChatGPT already are.
Then stop at two or three. Every plugin you connect is another place ChatGPT has to choose from, and you are trusting it with another account. Add more when you catch yourself copying and pasting from an app into ChatGPT.
- You live in your inbox: Gmail or Outlook Email.
- Your team talks in Slack or Teams: that plugin.
- Your customers message you on WhatsApp: WhatSync.
- You build things: GitHub, then your project tracker.
- You sell: your CRM, then your email.

These are all 343 plugins on OpenAI's own plugin pages on November 4, 2026, each under the category that fits it best. The line next to each name is the plugin's own description.

Questions
- Are ChatGPT plugins still a thing in 2026?
- Yes. The original plugins closed in April 2024, but on July 9, 2026 OpenAI brought the name back for its new plugin directory. You find them under Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar.
- What is the difference between a ChatGPT plugin, an app and a connector?
- They are mostly names for the same idea at different times. Today a plugin is what you install from the directory. It contains an app, which is the connection to the other service, and sometimes skills, which are ready-made instructions for common jobs.
- Are ChatGPT plugins free?
- Installing a plugin costs nothing, but the app behind it may need its own paid plan. Which plugins you can use also depends on your ChatGPT plan, your country and, at work, your admin.
- How many ChatGPT plugins are there?
- OpenAI's public plugin pages listed 343 on November 4, 2026, all shown on this page. The directory inside ChatGPT has more, because those pages only show plugins for work.
- Is there a WhatsApp plugin for ChatGPT?
- Yes. WhatSync is in ChatGPT's plugin directory and lets ChatGPT read the WhatsApp chats you pick and draft replies. The setup takes about five minutes: connect WhatsApp to ChatGPT.
- Is it safe to connect my accounts to ChatGPT?
- ChatGPT can only reach what the account you sign in with can reach, and you can disconnect a plugin from ChatGPT's settings at any time. Connect the apps you need, and check what each one is allowed to do, such as send or edit.
