WhatsApp chat to PDF

Turn a WhatsApp chat into a clean PDF you can read, print, share or keep: every message with its date and time, who sent it, and the photos if you exported them. It runs in your browser, so the chat is never uploaded.

Turn a WhatsApp chat into a PDF

Drop the .txt or .zip file you get when you export a chat. A .zip with media puts the photos in the PDF too. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Export the chat

In WhatsApp, open the chat, then Export chat. Include media if you want photos in the PDF.

  2. 2

    Pick what goes in

Set the title, the dates and whose messages to include. The preview updates as you go.

  3. 3

    Save as PDF

Your browser's print window opens. Choose Save as PDF and pick where to keep the file.

How to export a WhatsApp chat

On iPhone: open the chat, tap the contact or group name at the top, scroll down and tap Export Chat. Choose Attach Media to put photos in the PDF, or Without Media for text only.

On Android: open the chat, tap the three dots at the top right, then More, Export chat, and choose Include media or Without media.

Save the file or send it to your computer, then drop it in above. WhatsApp limits how much one export holds, so very long chats can be cut short. Check the period at the top of the PDF covers what you need.

What the PDF looks like

It opens with the chat title, the people in it, the period it covers and the number of messages. Then every message follows in order under its date, with the time and the sender, in any language, including right-to-left text and emojis. Photos appear where they were sent; voice notes, videos and files are listed by name.

In most browsers each page is numbered. To turn the voice notes into text as well, use our voice note to text tool on the same export.

Using a chat PDF as a record

People keep chat PDFs for orders and agreements, landlord and job disputes, insurance claims and for lawyers. The PDF is a readable copy of the export file: it shows what is in the file, with the times WhatsApp wrote there, and it says it is not a certified copy.

Whether a court or another party accepts it depends on where you are and what it is for. If it matters, ask a lawyer how they want the chat, and keep the original export file and your phone, because they may ask for those too. This page is not legal advice.

Private by design

The PDF is made in your browser. Your chat and photos are read on your device and never uploaded, stored or seen by us. Close the tab and they are gone.

Questions

Something else? Ask us.

Is this WhatsApp to PDF converter free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark on the messages, and no limit on chat length.

Can I include photos?

Yes. Export the chat with media and drop in the .zip file. Photos show where they were sent. Voice notes, videos and documents are listed by file name.

Can I make a PDF of just some dates or one person?

Yes. Set From and To to pick the days, and Messages from to keep one person's messages. WhatsApp notices stay so the record reads in order.

Does it work with Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi and emojis?

Yes. The PDF is made by your browser, which writes every language, right-to-left text and emoji the way your screen shows them.

Is my chat uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to us.

How do I save it on my phone?

Tap Save as PDF, then in the print preview use Save as PDF on Android, or the share button and Save to Files on iPhone.

Will a court accept this PDF?

It depends on the court and the country. The PDF is a readable copy of your export, not a certified one. Keep the original export and ask a lawyer what they need.
