WhatsApp for Cursor

Clients report bugs on WhatsApp. Cursor fixes them. With WhatSync, the agent reads the report itself.

How do you connect WhatsApp to Cursor?

Click Add to Cursor, or add WhatSync to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the server URL. Then sign in from Cursor's MCP settings and link your WhatsApp. Cursor's agent can then read your chats and send messages you approve.

What Cursor can do with your WhatsApp

The bug report, verbatim

The agent pulls the client's exact words and steps instead of your paraphrase.

Close the loop

Draft the it-is-fixed message to the client group when the change is done.

Build WhatsApp features

Try templates, sends and webhooks with real tools while you write the code.

Add WhatSync to Cursor

You sign in to WhatSync once. No API keys to paste. Check what you need above first.

  1. Add the server

    Click Add to Cursor above, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one.

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "whatsync": { "url": "https://whatsync.app/api/mcp" }
      }
    }
  2. Sign in

    Open Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP (just MCP in older versions). Next to whatsync, click Connect and sign in with Google or your email.

  3. Link your WhatsApp

    Open your WhatSync dashboard and link your personal WhatsApp from Linked devices on your phone, or connect the WhatsApp Business API. If you ask your agent something first, it replies with a sign-in link that works for 15 minutes.

  4. Choose what it can see

    On the What's saved page, enable message saving, pick the groups to include and keep any person out. Groups stay off until you tick them. The agent can read permitted messages saved since you enabled saving; linking does not import your entire WhatsApp history.

Things to ask Cursor

Copy one, change the names, and try it.

  • Use WhatSync to read what Vikram said about the login page and fix it.

  • List every bug the client mentioned in the Acme group this week as a checklist.

  • Draft a WhatsApp to Vikram saying the login fix is live. Show it to me first.

  • Show me the variables our order_update template expects.

Good to know

You choose which chats are saved, and you can unlink WhatsApp from your phone at any time. How we handle your data.

  • Cursor asks before running a tool unless you turn on auto-run. Keep auto-run off for the send tools.
  • If the sign-in page does not open, update Cursor and click Connect again.
  • Sends are real WhatsApp messages and run when your AI app allows the tool call. Keep send tools on manual approval and review the recipient and text. Asking the agent to wait is not an enforced approval setting.
  • Use the Business API for campaigns to customers who opted in. The Business API does not permit unsolicited messages. Linked personal accounts can be restricted for violating WhatsApp's rules.
  • Search covers saved message text, file names and captions. WhatSync does not index document contents, transcribe voice notes or read text inside images. A download link is available only when WhatSync saved the file.
  • Group searches and replies require a linked personal WhatsApp. WhatsApp Business API tools work with customer conversations, templates and campaigns.
  • An unanswered conversation means its latest saved message in the checked period is incoming. It is a follow-up signal, not proof that a question is unanswered or that you owe a reply.

How do I add a WhatsApp MCP server to Cursor?

Click Add to Cursor on this page, or put the WhatSync URL in ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Then click Connect in Cursor's MCP settings to sign in.

Do I need Node, Python or Docker?

No. WhatSync is hosted. Cursor connects to the URL directly.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for WhatSync. We run the server for you. You only need the AI app itself. Your WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as normal.

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business API?

Yes. Connect a number through Meta and Cursor can check and create templates, send approved templates, and run campaigns to customers who opted in. Meta reviews every template and charges per message, depending on the country and message type. See WhatsApp Business API.

Is WhatSync made by Anysphere?

No. WhatSync is made by Appstronauts. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Anysphere, WhatsApp or Meta.

How much does it cost?

See the pricing page for the current plans.
