Is this WhatsApp link generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, there is no signup, and the links never expire. A wa.me link is a normal WhatsApp feature, so it keeps working even if you never come back here.

Why does my link say the phone number is invalid?

Usually the number is missing the country code, or it has a leading 0 that belongs only to local dialing. Pick the right country above and type the number the way you dial it at home, and the tool builds the right format. The number also has to be registered on WhatsApp.

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business app?

Yes. wa.me links work with personal WhatsApp, the WhatsApp Business app, and numbers on the WhatsApp Business API.

Is wa.me the same as api.whatsapp.com/send?

Yes, both open the same chat. wa.me is shorter and is the format WhatsApp recommends.

Can I make a link to a WhatsApp group?

Not with a phone number. Group links are invite links you get from the group itself: open the group, tap its name, then Invite via link.

Can I change the message after I share the link?

The message is part of the link, so a new message means a new link. If you print the link as a QR code, decide on the message first.
