The format WhatsApp needs

WhatsApp identifies people by their full international number: the country code, then the number, with no spaces, brackets, dashes or leading zero. This is called E.164.

US: (415) 555-2671 becomes +14155552671
India: 098765 43210 becomes +919876543210
UK: 07911 123456 becomes +447911123456

wa.me links and most APIs want the same number without the +, like 919876543210. Pick that from the output format.

What format does WhatsApp use for phone numbers?

The international E.164 format: a + sign, the country code, then the number with no spaces or symbols, like +14155551234. wa.me links use the same digits without the +.

Does this check if a number is on WhatsApp?

No. It checks that the number is a real phone number for its country. Only WhatsApp knows whether a number has an account. Open chat lets you check one by hand.

Why is a number marked to check?

It has too few or too many digits for its country, or it is missing a country code and the country you picked does not fit. Fix it in your list and it updates straight away.

Are my numbers uploaded?

No. The formatter runs in your browser, so the numbers stay on your device.

How many numbers can I format at once?

As many as your browser handles comfortably, which is tens of thousands. The table shows the first 500, and copy and download include all of them.
