Is WhatSync made by Anthropic or WhatsApp?

No. WhatSync is made by Appstronauts. It is a connector you add to Claude. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Anthropic, WhatsApp, or Meta.

Can Claude read all my WhatsApp chats?

Claude can only see what WhatSync saves, and you choose that. Groups are off until you pick them, and you can keep one-on-one chats with certain people out. You can change this at any time in your dashboard.

Can Claude send WhatsApp messages for me?

Yes, one message at a time, after you ask it to. Claude asks for your approval before it sends. Check who it goes to and what it says before you approve. You are responsible for the messages you approve.

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business app?

Yes. Linking works with the normal WhatsApp app and the WhatsApp Business app.

Will Claude see my old messages?

Linking does not delete anything on your phone. New messages are saved after you link, so Claude works with messages from that point on.

Can Claude see photos and voice notes?

It can see that a photo, file, or voice note was sent, along with its file name or caption. It does not look inside images or transcribe voice notes.

On your phone, open WhatsApp, go to Linked devices, and log out of WhatSync. To remove saved messages, use Remove everything on the What's saved page. You can also remove the WhatSync connector in Claude's settings.

Step 1: Add WhatSync to Claude

You add WhatSync once as a connector and it stays connected in every chat.

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
Click Add custom connector. Name it WhatSync and paste the URL above.
Click Connect and sign in to WhatSync with Google or your email. New to WhatSync? Signing in creates your account.
You are sent back to Claude, connected.

Step 2: Link your WhatsApp

This uses WhatsApp's Linked devices, the same way WhatsApp Web works. Nothing to install and no password to share.

Open your WhatSync dashboard. If you ask Claude something first, it gives you a link that signs you straight in.
On your phone, open WhatsApp. On iPhone go to Settings. On Android tap the three dots at the top.
Tap Linked devices, then Link a device.
Point your phone at the QR code on your dashboard. Only have your phone? Choose to link with your phone number instead and type the code from your dashboard into WhatsApp.

Step 3: Choose what Claude can see

Claude only sees what WhatSync saves, and you decide what that is.

Open What's saved in your dashboard.
Keep one-on-one chats with certain people out, or save only chats with a short list of people.
Turn on the groups you want Claude to see. Groups are off until you pick them.

Step 4: Ask Claude

Start a new chat in Claude and ask about your WhatsApp. If Claude does not use WhatSync on its own, mention it by name, for example “Use WhatSync to…”.

What Claude can use

WhatSync gives Claude these tools. Reading tools only look at your saved chats. Sending tools are marked so Claude asks you first.

Read your chats
List your chats, open a conversation, search messages, find chats waiting for your reply, list contacts, and find photos and files by name or caption.
Send one message
Send one WhatsApp message to one person or chat. Claude asks you before it sends.
WhatsApp Business API
If you connected the official Business API, check your setup, templates, sending health, pricing, and how your messages did.

Sending messages

Claude can write a reply and send it from your WhatsApp. It asks for your approval first, so check who it goes to and what it says before you approve.

A linked personal number is for your own chats, not for messaging many people at once. WhatsApp can restrict numbers that send bulk or unwanted messages. To message many customers, use the WhatsApp Business API.

If something goes wrong

Claude says no WhatsApp is linked yet: WhatSync is connected to Claude, but you have not linked WhatsApp yet. Click the link Claude shows you, which signs you into your dashboard, and link WhatsApp there. The link works for 15 minutes. If it expired, ask Claude again for a new one.
Claude does not use WhatSync: Check that the connector is turned on for this chat in the tools menu under the message box. You can also mention it by name, for example "Use WhatSync to find my unanswered chats".
Claude can't find a chat: Check that the chat or group is saved on the What's saved page. Only messages that arrive after you link are saved, so a quiet chat may not show up yet.
The QR code expired: QR codes only last a short time. Click Show QR code again and scan it straight away. You can also link with your phone number and a code instead.
It worked before and now it doesn't: Open WhatsApp on your phone, go to Linked devices, and check that WhatSync is still there. WhatsApp can log out linked devices if your phone has been offline for a long time. If it is gone, link it again from your dashboard.
I can't add a custom connector: On Team and Enterprise plans, an admin may need to allow custom connectors first. Ask your Claude workspace admin.
